Can I claim travelling expenses?

Yes. Travel expenses from home to your client and other business travel can be claimed. The company receives tax deduction but you don’t pay tax on the payment to you.

There are rules to be considered as your workplace must be a temporary one. A temporary workplace is one that you can’t predict will continue for 24 months. “Prediction” is the key phrase and this means that you must stop claiming as soon as you expect you will be at the same location for more than 24 months.

Copies of all receipts should be retained and in the case of mileage, an accurate log should be kept.
