Do new IR35 tests reward failure?

Clearsky video

It’s been almost a week since HMRC published the IR35 business test questions and guidance which it will now use to identify which companies are most at risk of non-compliance and therefore most likely to be targeted for investigation.  To say that their publication has been controversial has to be the understatement of the year and the dust is yet to settle. Easy to digest or hard to stomach, how did you react to last week

Clearsky video

I posted my initial reaction to the Budget shortly after the Chancellor sat down last week, and you can read my comments here.

Clients of ClearSky will have received their in-depth Budget report last Thursday and we’ve now made this available to everyone else as a downloadable PDF. You can get your copy here.

Having gone through the Budget 2012 report in more depth, we’ve now picked up on one aspect of it that is very close to our hearts after our recent blogs on how personal service companies (PSCs) are being portrayed in the media and our old ‘friend’ IR35.

How would you make our tax system fair?

One of the complaints frequently levied at HMRC is that when it comes to tax rules in the UK, it’s often a case of one rule for one and another for the rest of us. This hasn’t been helped by the recent stories of cosy tax deals negotiated with large multinational corporates such as Goldman Sachs. Click here to read more »
